It will be at least another month before the Collingwood airport sale closes.
Collingwood CAO Fareed Amin said the town is still doing its “due diligence” for the sale, and the scheduled closing date was now Nov. 23.
The town announced the sale of the Collingwood Regional Airport to Winterland Development Inc., on Aug. 2 with the original closing date of Sept. 25.
On Oct. 3, town clerk Sara Almas confirmed the airport sale had not closed and staff was still working with Winterland to fulfil the conditions of the purchase and sale agreement. She expected the sale would be closed by the end of October.
Amin confirmed in emails to CollingwoodToday on Tuesday and Wednesday the work continues and the closing deadline has been pushed back.
According to the conditions of the sale that are public, the airport must remain a publicly accessible regional facility for at least 10 years.
Clearview Township’s mayor confirmed the township submitted a bid for $3.5 million for the airport.
Winterland had the winning bid at $4.1 million.
