Charges pending against Newmarket man following yesterday's crash on Cundles

'There were individuals in the home at the time and they were uninjured,' says Barrie police spokesperson

Charges are pending against a Newmarket man following yesterday's incident where a car collided with the front of a house on Cundles Road East in the city's north end.

The afternoon crash remains under investigation.

Barrie police responded to the scene at Cundles and Cartwright Drive shortly after 1:30 p.m. Police say the vehicle was travelling eastbound on Cundles when it left the road and struck the home, causing extensive structural damage.

On Thursday, Barrie police communications co-ordinator Jennett Mays said the driver, a 26-year-old Newmarket man, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

“There were individuals in the home at the time and they were uninjured,” Mays told BarrieToday.

The cause is still under investigation and charges are pending, she added.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed Wednesday’s collision, or who may have dash-cam or security camera footage in the area from around that time, to email the investigator at [email protected].
