Car crashes into home on Cundles Rd. E. (5 photos)

One person was taken to hospital as a precaution

Barrie police are investigating after a car crashed into the front of north-end Barrie home this afternoon.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, emergency crews responded to a Cundles Road East home at the corner of Cartwright Drive after the vehicle struck the house.

A Barrie police official says it appears one person was taken to local hospital as a precaution. It's unclear if that person was in the car or inside the house.

The crash caused extensive structural damage to the home.

The investigation continues.

BarrieToday will have more details as they become available.

Today's crash happened not far from where another vehicle struck a home's garage along Cundles Road East in December 2020.

In that case, a 25-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and dangerous operation of a vehicle after his pickup truck slammed into a home near Springdale Drive. No one was seriously injured.

"It was a garage this time, but it could be (into) someone's house next time," a Barrie police spokesperson said at that time.
