Bayfield Mall hosting 'support the locals’ sidewalk sale Saturday

'It's been rough all around and we are definitely feeling it,' says store owner of pandemic impacts on mall, shoppers

The Bayfield Mall is hoping for a crowd of shoppers tomorrow as their sidewalk sale event takes place Saturday after being delayed due to the pandemic.

Tomorrow's event is being organized by one of the mall’s long-serving store managers.

Gillian Dorella-Scott has been the manager of Sunrise Records at the Bayfield Mall for just over six years.

She is excited to help those who have had a difficult two years with their business.

“We’re doing a ‘support the locals’ sidewalk sale with local vendors who haven’t been able to sell a lot since reopening,” said Dorella-Scott. “This is the first time we tried to organize one since we reopened. We tried to get one going last year but got shut down again.”

Around 20 vendors will line the mall with everything from from jewellery to kids toys to baking goods and more.

Dorella-Scott said the event is definitely needed.

“There have been so many changes in the mall and they are trying to bring in new ideas to help everyone get more business,” said Dorella-Scott. “It's been rough all around and we are definitely feeling it.”

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
