The May Court Club of Barrie is holding the 24th annual Homes For The Holidays self-drive tour on Saturday and Sunday.

It is their largest fundraising event of the year and proceeds assist many community charities at local schools, seniors' homes, special needs organizations and scholarships.

“The Homes For The Holidays event is a fun beginning for many people's holiday traditions.  This year is an exciting tour with terrific homes, decorators and florists,”  said Marianne Schall, publicity volunteer for the May Court Club of Barrie.

This year's  Tea Room – located at the Lion’s Gate Banquet Centre – will present two fashion shows showcasing the latest holiday styles.

Volunteers have worked all year to make trendy jewelry and gifts.

“We have people lining up for the 9 a.m. opening to do their Christmas shopping,” said Schall.

Catherine Staples of Staples Design Group revealed a few of her ideas in the home she is decorating in the Horseshoe Valley area.

“There will be a simple equestrian theme, with glamorous elements of nature creating a traditional, cozy and classic holiday home,” she said.

Etti Mountain, from Barrie’s Garden Centre, is planning to use the stunning architectural details of her home to tie in a rustic yet elegant design with reds, burgundy, lush fragrant greens and florals.

Also, Gina Vasey of Dwellings Décor in Craighurst warmed her modern bungalow with locally-sourced barn board features, a bit of polish and lots of seasonal decor.

Tickets are $30 and include the five homes, Tea Room (coffee/tea/snack) and Unique Boutique.

They are available at the May Court Shop, 54B Maple Ave., or call (705) 737-1322 for other retail locations or go to www.BarrieMayCourtClub.ca for more information.
