Reports of a man with a firearm prompted a large response from Barrie Police Wednesday night.
Just before 8:00 p.m., police responded to the area of Essa Road near Gowan Street after witnesses reported seeing a man with a handgun.
Police, including Canine and Tactical Support, responded to the scene and located the man who was taken into custody.
Charges are pending against a 34-year-old Barrie man, police said in a news release.
The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
