The Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County is excited to launch its second annual '100 Women Who Care About Women' campaign to recruit 10 trailblazing women who will raise $10,000 for Joyce Kope House, the 27-bed homeless shelter and halfway house we operate in Barrie for women. This year’s campaign is being launched during National Elizabeth Fry Week, celebrated across Canada the week before Mother’s Day, dedicated to the women who do not get to spend Mother’s Day with their children because they are homeless or criminalized.

We are seeking 10 women to demonstrate their commitment to social justice by becoming a Trailblazer and make a positive difference in the lives of Simcoe County’s most vulnerable women. “We know there are many women in Simcoe County who are champions of social justice. We need 10 of these champions to become Trailblazers and recruit 10 of their friends, family and colleagues to donate $100 each,” says Joy Thompson, executive director. Trailblazers will be given a swag bag of resources about the Elizabeth Fry Society of Simcoe County to help them solicit donations. They will be recognized on our website and social media platforms and invited to join staff in cooking and serving women in the shelter a holiday season lunch in early December 2018.

The funds raised by 100 Women Who Care About Women will be used to purchase desperately needed new beds and dressers for Joyce Kope House. Last year, the shelter provided 6,690 nights of safety to 462 of Simcoe County’s most vulnerable women who were able to engage and live in the community and were supported to build stable lives.
