ETHNIC MOSAIC ALLIANCE

Ethnic Mosaic Alliance (EMA) is thrilled to partner with the Barrie Persian Association (BPA) and the Barrie Film Festival (BFF) to offer the second of our Mosaic Nights

The Mosaic Nights Festival is a celebration of two international films embedded in two different cultural extravaganzas, in two locations around southern Simcoe County, over two Saturday nights this summer.

The Mosaic Nights Festival brought India to Simcoe County through a unique cultural event recently held at Meridian Place at Barrie’s waterfront on Aug. 12.

Now we turn our lens to Persia!

Mosaic Nights Persian Festival will be held in the beautiful Riverdale Park in Alliston. This event coincides with The Museum on the Boyne adjacent to Riverdale Park hosting their Open Doors Simcoe County.

Mosaic Nights will offer a free outdoor screening of Tehranto. This feature-length Canadian film highlights the Persian culture in the context of Toronto.

Mosaic Nights is thrilled to host the director, Faran Moradi for a Q-and-A session before the showing. There will also be pre-movie experiences showcasing the food and music of Iran and Afghanistan. Culturally specific food vendors will offer take-out/picnic style opportunities. Dance performances, arts and music will be offered to allow participants to experience the cultures firsthand.

“We’re very grateful for the generous support of the County of Simcoe’s 2023 Tourism Culture and Sport Enrichment Grant, the TD Bank Group’s Connected Communities grant, Alectra Cares Community Support Program, Honda and the Town of New Tecumseth’s 2023 Arts Culture and Tourism Grant," says Shelley Sarin, chair of the Ethnic Mosaic Alliance.

"Hosting events like this helps EMA achieve its mission of promoting and celebrating diversity in Simcoe County.”

Ethnic Mosaic Alliance (EMA) is a non-profit organization created to embrace, promote, and celebrate cultural diversity in Simcoe County. Comprised of a passionate, dedicated, and active volunteer board, EMA is working to create a multicultural centre in Simcoe County.

Mosaic Nights Persian Festival: Saturday, Aug. 26, 5-11 p.m. at Riverdale Park, Alliston (raindate TBA) Film: Tehranto, english and farsi with english subtitles.
