The second annual Festival of India: Jagannath Rath Yatra is coming to Barrie on June 25.

Organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Barrie, the festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the lakeshore at the Southshore Community Centre.

“This festival is a celebration of Lord Jagannath, his brother, Balabhadra, and sister, Subhadra, who travel in massive wooden chariots to meet their devotees. It is one of the oldest and largest chariot festivals in the world, and a symbol of unity and diversity will be celebrated here by Hare Krishna’s ISKCON Barrie,” the organization said in a news release.

Attendees can watch the colourful procession of the deities, take in live music and dance performances, eat vegetarian food, and learn more about the heritage and traditions of India.
