BarrieFolk is thrilled to hit the stage with live music on June 4 with not one or two, but three Canadian music icons.

Multi-award-winning musicians Lynn Miles, Valdy, and Suzie Vinnick will perform together in an intimate concert at the Five Points Theatre in Barrie on Saturday, June 4.

Miles is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/songwriters. With 13 albums to her credit, the winner of multiple Canadian Folk Music awards, and a 2003 Juno award for Roots and Traditional Solo Album of the Year, has certainly found her strength over time.

Through a career that has seen her move from Ottawa to Los Angeles and back again, with stops in Nashville and Austin, and a healthy touring schedule that regularly takes her through the U.S., Europe and across Canada, she has always created and performed music with unbridled feeling and vulnerability.

Miles’s newest release, We’ll Look for Stars, has been receiving glowing reviews.

Folk legend Valdy has 16 albums, 22 singles and four gold records. He has won two Juno awards and is one of the country’s purest and most credible storytellers.

Valdy has toured Canada close to 50 years, and plays regularly in New Zealand with Kiwi mate Graham Wardrop. He has also toured Austria, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, and was an oft-invited performer at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. He was invested as a member of the Order of Canada in 2012.

He’s a master of country, folk, rock and blues, and his shows are a disarming and practical blend of respect for the audience and show business.

A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario, Vinnick is the proud owner of a gorgeous voice, prodigious guitar and bass chops, and an engagingly candid performance style.

Her career has seen triumph after triumph. Among her most recent successes: being awarded the 2019 Saskatchewan Jazz Festival Special Recognition Award and being nominated for a 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award for Producer of the Year with her co-producer, Mark Lalama. Vinnick has won 10 Maple Blues Awards, won the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Award for Contemporary Vocalist of the Year and is a three-time Juno nominee.

Her latest album is a full-band roots and blues extravaganza titled Shake the Love Around.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and takes place at the Five Points Theatre (1 Dunlop St. W., Barrie). Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by calling 1-888-655-9090 or online at barriefolk.com/tickets.
