LETTER: Want to rename Hwy. 400 after Lightfoot? Foot the bill

Reader says people signing such petitions should be aware of 'significant costs' that would come with any changes

Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to an article about renaming Highway 400 after Orillia-born musician Gordon Lightfoot, published March 18.

While everyone is encouraged to express their opinions, when it comes to the renaming of any street, road, highway, etc., in my opinion, people signing these petitions should be aware that there are significant costs associated with the consideration of and for any implementation of change.

I'd suggest that anyone signing such a petition be responsible for footing their portion of the total bill for making such a change.

Frankly, I think that the 400 has a nice ring to it and suggest it remain unchanged.
