To the doctors, nurses and hospital staff of Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie.

I want to express my gratitude to you for the excellent care that I received in the early morning of July 30. I woke up that day at approximately 1 a.m. with chest pains and recognized that I was having a heart attack.

After calling 911, I was transported to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital by ambulance where my thoughts were confirmed. I was diagnosed as having a full blockage of my main artery.

Quickly, I was transported to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie where a medical team under Dr. Lee awaited my arrival. Under partial anesthesia, a stent was installed and my blockage was cleared.

Too many times we hear about the challenges of our health-care system in Ontario. I'm here today to say that although not perfect, our health-care system works and that the doctors, nurses and hospital staff that looked after me were excellent.

Thankvyou for your great life saving work!

Karl Kampe
Orillia
