It is so hoped that after the October election our next council will be more responsive to citizen concerns.

Over the past three to four years, speeding and noisy vehicles have received no serious address from Barrie council nor Barrie police.

Council because I have learned that it is council that decides to put photo radar to work.

The police who have made several announcements over these past few years that they are going to become more dedicated to this issue have done very little to alleviate this growing problem.

Instead, the issue of these dangerous drivers and drivers with no respect for their neighbours and neighbourhoods has become considerably worse.

There seems tacit permission to modify exhaust systems. Why? Does their speed and noise enhance their stature, make them feel bigger, more important?

Because the inaction of council and the police is so very inadequate, the people of Barrie are very frustrated and angry.

I wonder if voter turnout is so low because there seems little to no response to concerns about our dangerous and annoying streets.

Citizens of Barrie, please pay attention to the candidates for mayor and your wards and get out and vote or do so online. We can make the city of Barrie streets and neighbourhoods less hostile and more friendly.

In several countries in Europe, photo radar is a normal part of monitoring driving.

We have much to be thankful for in Barrie, but this issue robs our reputation of being a friendly place both to our own citizens and visitors.
