Arcadis IBI Group has released renderings of the proposed new GO Transit station planned for the 6th Line in Innisfil.

The following letter is in response to a story titled 'Orbit development's draft plan landing at Innisfil council,' published Feb. 6.

I see that once again we are looking at the amazing, futuristic Orbit station that I will probably not see in my lifetime!

I’m a senior so one might say, so what? It will come when “market conditions” allow.

And then we see a projection for orbit out to 2091!

Our tax dollars have paid for a plan that thinks out some 70 years? Ludicrous, and simply silly. I remember when we moved to Innisfil three years ago, seeing a GO station on a local map, near 6th Line and 20th Sideroad.

We went to see it and, of course, it wasn’t there. We kind of knew it wasn’t, but we had to check.

It’s a sad story that plans are out there with literally no chance of coming to fruition within reasonable time lines.

Sensible, practicable plans for our community, with funding requirements identified, should perhaps look out 10 or 15 years, and admit that beyond that, nobody really knows.

Such plans might attract constructive comments from your stakeholders, i.e. the people who are here now!
