Lakeside Retirement Residence on Innisfil Beach Road is in outbreak after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

Family members and residents were notified of the declaration by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit by letter, sent out on Dec. 26. An outbreak is declared when, as per provincial rules, at least one staff member or resident in a group living facility tests positive for the virus.

As a precaution, all residents will be required to stay in their rooms, with staff members wearing personal protective equipment that includes goggles or face shields delivering meals to each resident. Residents are also being requested to wear masks when staff are in their rooms.

According to the letter, the residence is working with Public Health to have all staff and residents tested within the next few days.

Further details as to when the staff member last worked or what department they worked in were not available at time of publishing.
