Four new COVID cases reported in Barrie today

Including today's report, the health unit has confirmed 13 new cases in Simcoe County this week

The region's health unit confirmed five new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, including four in Barrie and one in Wasaga Beach. 

Among the four new cases in Barrie are a girl under 18 years old, a man between 18 and 34 years old, a woman between 34 and 44 years old, and a man between 45 and 64 years old. 

The Wasaga case is a man between 45 and 64 years old. He is the second person from Wasaga Beach to test positive for the coronavirus this month. The last case, a woman between 18 and 34 years old, was reported by the health unit on Aug. 21. 

The transmission sources for all five new cases reported today by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit are listed as being under investigation. 

Including today's report, the health unit has confirmed 13 new cases in Simcoe County this week and none in Muskoka District. 

Barrie's total number of cases has increased by five today because the health unit has moved a previously reported case from Innisfil to Barrie upon further investigation. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has now reported a total of 693 coronavirus cases in the region, with 661 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of those, 629 cases are now listed as recovered and 37 people have died. 

There are 27 cases of COVID in Simcoe County not reported recovered, including 16 in Barrie, two in Bradford, two in New Tecumseth, two in Innisfil, two in Wasaga Beach, two in Essa Township, and one in Penetanguishene. Two people are hospitalized.
