The Lowe's store in Barrie is located on Bryne Drive.

A positive case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at the Lowe's store in south-end Barrie, the company announced today on its corporate Facebook page.

"We were informed on Jan. 8 of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis among our staff at our Lowe’s Barrie store, located at 71 Byrne Dr.," says Saturday's post. "Their last day of work was Jan. 3."

The company says it is taking the situation "very seriously."

"To protect the health and safety of our associates and customers, we proceeded to (do) an extensive cleaning and disinfecting of the premises, actions that are in addition to the enhanced cleaning and disinfecting measures carried out on a regular basis," the post says.

Associates who were identified as having been in close contact with an infected associate have been put on preventive paid quarantine at home, the company says.

"We also duly reached out to local public health authorities to inform them of the situation and of the measures taken at the store, and the store remains open," states the Facebook post.
