The Ontario Junior 'C' Lacrosse League announced Friday evening the cancellation of the 2020 season, meaning that Junior 'C' Barrie Bombers will not be taking flight at the 'Holly Hangar' this year.

"The health of our players, staff, officials, and fans is the first priority of both the Bombers and the league," noted team governor Jim Lowe. "While we are devastated to lose a full season of lacrosse, it was the only responsible decision that we could make for our individual communities and the province as a whole."

Coming off a record-breaking 2019, the 'Bomb Squad' was initially scheduled to launch its sixth season in Barrie on May 1, hosting the Halton Hills Bulldogs. A directive from the Ontario Lacrosse Association on April 9 extended a previous suspension of lacrosse in the province until at least May 16. In an online meeting earlier this week, the Junior 'C' Council discussed the viability of an abridged season but ultimately decided on cancellation.

"On behalf of their entire Bomber Junior 'C' organization, I want to send a message of support to our players, their families, our fans, and our sponsors during these difficult times," added Lowe. "We can't wait to return for the best fans in the league in 2021."

Players or sponsors with questions are asked to contact team general manager Luke Ringler at [email protected].
