Catholic board confirms COVID case at Barrie school

Latest case is at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School on Summerset Drive in the south end

The Catholic school board has confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 at one of its Barrie schools. 

On Friday, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board reported a single case at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School, which is located on Summerset Drive in the city's south end near Ardagh Road and Ferndale Drive. 

The board has not said whether it is a staff member or a student. 

One classroom has been closed, but the school remains open. 

There are now six confirmed school-related cases within Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board facilities and seven classrooms closed. The schools include St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School (Barrie), St. Paul's Catholic School (Alliston), St. John Vianney Catholic School (Barrie), St. Angela Merici Catholic School (Bradford), Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic School (Barrie), and Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School (Tottenham).
