Simcoe County will be abuzz with activity on Sunday May 29th!

The Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County (ASSC) is hosting their 24th Annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s at the Simcoe County Museum. This is their biggest event of the year, with last year’s walk raising over $100,000.

These funds went directly back into our community, funding education sessions, supportive counselling, and social recreation programs, all aimed at improving the quality of life for those living with dementia in our community. These programs and services are critical to the health and well-being of those living with dementia and their care partners.

The Walk calls on everyone in our Simcoe County community to walk 10,500 steps in support of the 10,500 individuals living with dementia in Simcoe County, and to join the Alzheimer Society in showing your support!

“You can make a difference in the lives of those living with dementia” says Debbie Islam, Chief Executive Officer. “Let’s come together as a community and make this our most successful walk yet!”

Food, Entertainment, Vendors, and Beautiful Weather

This year, the ASSC has even bigger and better plans for their first in-person walk since 2019!

From 10am until 4pm, join in for a family-friendly day in the sun! Lunch, which is tasty grilled hot dogs, will be provided free for all walkers and available for non-walkers with the encouragement of a small donation. Notable local vendors such as Maple Grove Syrup, Olive Oil Co., and Nicholyn Farms, will be present with lovely items and foodstuff available for purchase.

Enjoy performances throughout the day from many local artists, including Orillia’s Little Big Band and the Cellar Singers.

There are many exciting items available for bidding during the virtual auction, which begins on Sunday May 22nd and goes on until midnight on Sunday June 5th. These include items from incredible sponsors such as Chappell Farms, Mariposa Folk Festival, the Barrie Colts, and Canada’s Wonderland. Every successful bid will remain in our community and impact individuals who are affected by dementia.
