For Erika Nardi, Sandwich Co. Famous Italian Sandwiches is a labour of love with deep roots in family tradition.
“We are from Reggio, and Cosenza in Calabria which is the south of Italy. Our tomato sauce (Italian sugo) has been passed down; for at least four or five generations, our chef Lily has had this recipe in her family. Our tomato sauce is made fresh every day. We use only the freshest ingredients and let it simmer and cook for over 2 hours every morning.”
While Nonna’s sugo is definitely a customer favourite, it is not the only secret ingredient to success for this flourishing business. “Our steak and grilled chicken marinade are also a family favourite - but secret ingredients to make it our own and unique,” Nardi explains. All of their sandwiches, entrees and apps are created by hand using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. “Our veggies and meat are brought in daily from local vendors, and our bread is baked and delivered daily”.

Each day, Sandwich Co. Famous Italian Sandwiches offers a feature item for just $10:
- Monday - meatball sandwich
- Tuesday- steak sandwich
- Wednesday- veal sandwich
- Thursday- eggplant parmigiana sandwich
- Friday - breaded chicken sandwich
On the last Thursday of every month, all sandwiches are available for $10 each. This price is available for take-out or dine-in, and customers can also choose from a range of additional toppings to customize their sandwiches.
Special events
Catering options are now available for parties, corporate meetings, clubs, tournaments and special occasions. “It’s an easy crowd pleaser,” says Nardi. “Easy setup, a lot of variety and cutlery, napkins and condiments are included.” There are no minimum orders or special requirements for catering.
