Worker suffers broken leg after fall at construction site

A 24-year-old man has suffered a broken leg after a work-site fall this morning.

Barrie police, firefighters and Simcoe County paramedics responded to the incident, which took place at a construction site on Evergreen Terrace in the city’s south end, near Yonge Street and Country Lane, shortly after 10 a.m., March 13.

The worker, whose name has not been released, fell approximately three to four feet into the foundation of a house and broke his leg, Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon confirmed in an email to BarrieToday. 

The man was transported by ambulance to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie.

The Ministry of Labour was contacted and will be investigating the incident, Leon said.
