On Friday, August 19, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Barrie police attended an address on Cedar Crescent following a call from a distraught mother reporting her 8-year-old child as missing.

The mother informed police that her child was last seen sleeping in his bed approximately one hour ago and was now missing from the residence. Concerns were raised due to the fact that the mother had been drinking.

Barrie police searched the residence for the child with negative results. Responding officers then began searching the area using the K9 Unit and the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.

While the search was being conducted the mother advised that she may have sent her child to stay with family for the weekend.

Police attended an address in Penetanguishene where the child was located in good health with family members.
