Updated on March 21, 2024, at 2:15 p.m.: Weather played a role in a single-vehicle collision that sent a woman and a child to hospital late Wednesday afternoon, South Simcoe police say.

The department reports the crash happened in the area of St. Johns Road and the 6th Line in Innisfil March 20 at about 3:25 p.m. The vehicle struck a utility pole, and poor weather — there were strong winds and snow was blowing heavily throughout the area at the time — was a factor in the incident. County of Simcoe paramedics transported the pair to hospital as a precaution and to be treated for minor injuries.

In a post on X, the social-media platform formerly known as Twitter, the department asked motorists to avoid the area Wednesday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
