Witness report leads to imapired driving charge

On June 23 at 7 p.m. a citizen observed a male (allegedly) drinking in his vehicle while travelling southbound on Bayfield Street.

Police located the vehicle described by the witness a short distance away travelling on Wellington Street.

The vehicle was stopped and police detected an odour of alcohol on the breath of the 74-year-old driver.

A roadside test was administered on the driver which registered a 'fail' reading and he was placed under arrest.

The male was transported to the Barrie Police station where he provided samples of breath.

He was charged with over 80 and impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and released with a July court date.
