On Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 just after 2 a.m. members of the Barrie Police Service received a call from a security officer working at 65 and 75 Ellen Street, in the City of Barrie.

Security found two parties (allegedly) smashing the windows out of the guard house located at the front of the condo building.

Once the two suspects spotted the complainant, they ran toward Lakeshore Drive. Officers arrived on scene and located two males matching the description running from the scene.

A short foot pursuit occurred as the males fled on foot across Bradford Street and into a back yard where the suspects jumped a fence into the yard of a residence. Officers located both males placing them under arrest for the mischief.

It was learned the males also (allegedly) smashed the glass windows around the pool area of the condo adding to the cost of damages. Two 20-year-old Barrie males were charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and released with a future court date.

As assessment of the damages continued into the day Sunday, it was learned the males were also (allegedly) responsible for a series of smashed windows at the Royal Bank of Canada business located at 11 Victoria Street, in the City of Barrie.

Also, further assessment of the damages to 65 Ellen Street revealed one of the accused males (is alleged to have) entered the pool area after smashing the glass and threw two (2) patio chairs into the pool.  The pool also contained shards of glass from the broken window and extensive cleaning is required to repair the pool area.

On Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 the initial charges were upgraded to Mischief Over $5,000 as the total cost of repairs is expected to exceed $10,000. An additional charge of Break and Enter was added to the mischief for the one male seen entering the premise through the broken window and throwing the chairs into the pool.
