NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE
*************************
On Christmas day around 10 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a report of a family dispute in the village of Bond Head. Once police arrived, they learned that the dispute between siblings originated over one sister refusing to turn vehicle keys over to the other due to concerns about her ability to operate a motor vehicle. The suspect advised she wished to take a cab home to Keswick and simply needed her keys to obtain some personal items from the vehicle. Police agreed to drive the female into Bradford to obtain a taxi as at that time no offence had occurred. Police dropped the 57-year-old Keswick female in the care of a local taxi after cautioning her not to drive due to her consumption of alcohol.

A short time later, police were alerted that the female refused to head home and requested to be returned to her vehicle. Police located the suspect operating her vehicle eastbound on Simcoe County Road 88.

Police followed the vehicle and observed it being operated in an erratic fashion. The suspect was stopped west of Bradford. At this time, police arrested the 57-year-old female driver for impaired care and control of a motor vehicle. The accused was returned to the police station for further processing. During processing, the female was found to have a blood alcohol level in excess of the legal limit. As such the accused was charged with impaired care and control and over 80 mgs care and control.

The female was released and will be appearing in Bradford Court in the New Year. In the mean time, her vehicle has been impounded for seven days under the Province of Ontario's vehicle impoundment program (VIP) and had had her drivers licence suspended for 90 days under the Province of Ontario's administrative drivers licence suspension program (ADLS).
