Driving while suspended, speeding, public intoxication, calls for service

The following are news releases issued by the South Simcoe Police Service:

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, just passed 9:30 p.m., a South Simcoe Police officer was conducting radar on Dissette Street, located in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. A vehicle believed to be travelling at a high rate of speed towards the officer registered 78km/h in a posted 50km/h zone. A traffic stop was conducted and further investigation showed the 26-year-old male from Newmarket was a suspended driver. He was charged with drive under suspension and speeding. He will appear in court in April to answer to these charges.

South Simcoe Police responded to Saint John's Side Road, located in the Town of Innisfil, just before 11:30 p.m. after receiving a number of calls from concerned citizens about a female laying in the middle of the road. Police located the female walking, covered in mud and to be very uncooperative with police. While speaking to the female, police detected a strong smell of alcohol on her breath. A 21-year-old woman was taken to the station to sober up and charged with intoxicated in a public place. She was later picked up by her mother.

On Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, South Simcoe Police responded to 94 calls for service, pro-active traffic stops and community service events.
