Weapon revealed during east-end convenience store robbery

The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot

Barrie Police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at a convenience store in Barrie’s east end on Friday evening.

On Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, just before 8:00 p.m., the suspect entered a convenience store in the east end of Barrie. The suspect immediately walked behind the counter, displayed a weapon and made a demand for cash. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot. The employee was not physically injured as a result of the incident.

Police are now seeking the assistance of the community in identifying the suspect.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, light skin
  • Over 6”0” tall
  • Thin to medium build

The suspect was wearing:

  • Green camouflage hoodie with a front pouch
  • Black track pants with cuffs at the bottom and two zippers on the left leg near thigh
  • White high top 'FILA' shoes with a white Velcro strap around the ankle and red and dark coloured stripes on the heels with dark soles
  • Black gloves, black and white patterned scarf/bandana covering the face
  • Blue vest or coat underneath the hoodie
