Members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently assisting with a fire investigation involving two homes being heavily damaged in Wasaga Beach.

On Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at 12:20 p.m. police received a call from Wasaga Beach Fire Services requesting OPP attend an address on Waterview Road to assist with a fully engulfed structure fire.

Upon arriving officers assisted with traffic control due to the heavy smoke causing poor visibility on the surrounding roadways. During firefighting efforts, the fire extended to a neighbouring house causing heavy damage.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is currently unknown. The OPP and Wasaga Beach Fire Services are currently working in partnership with the Ontario Fire Marshall to determine a cause.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Huronia West OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or https://ontariocrimestoppers.ca/.
