Barrie police are investigating after a vehicle's tire was slashed in a Yonge Street parking lot.

Barrie police are investigating after a vehicle's tire was slashed in a south-end parking lot on the weekend. 

The mischief was reported to city police on Monday following an incident on that took place sometime Saturday.

Police say the victim's vehicle has been parked at a Yonge Street parking lot.

The victim told police he had parked his car at 8:15 a.m., June 3, and travelled to Toronto by train. When he returned later that night at 10:30 p.m. and drove away, he discovered that the left rear tire had been slashed.

The estimated cost at replacing the tire is $350.

There are no known suspects.

"Barrie Police Service is reminding the public that anytime you leave your vehicle unattended in a public place, to always conduct a circle check before driving away as this will quickly identify if there are any issues that need addressing, such as a flat tire," police stated in a news release on Tuesday.
