Vehicle gets stuck in snowbank. Police show up

On Jan. 18, 2017 at approximately, 7:15 p.m., Midland Police Service was advised of a vehicle that had travelled into a snow bank on the west side of town. Police attended the location of the vehicle and located an 18-year-old man trying to get the vehicle out of the snow bank.

Police immediately noticed that the man was intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for impaired driving. He failed breath tests and was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 Mgs of alcohol per 100 ml of blood and having care and control of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.

Information was also received that the suspect was driving dangerously at speeds between 80-100km/h in a residential subdivision. The suspect was also charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The suspect s vehicle was impounded for 7 days and he was issued an immediate 90 day drivers license suspension. The suspect was released with a court date for Mar. 2, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Midland Court of Justice.

Charged is Elijah Wilson, 18 years old from Midland, ON with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol 253(1)(a)CC
  • Care and control of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol s. 253(1)(b) CC
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle s. 249(1)(a) CC
