The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a break, enter and theft was reported in the City of Barrie.

On Saturday Jan. 12, 2019, the Barrie Police Service was advised of a break, enter and theft that occurred sometime overnight between 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 and 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018. At that time, a storage unit that is located within a complex located on Big Bay Point Road had been forcibly entered.

It has been determined that three unique scales that were used primarily for ice fishing tournaments were stolen. The scales, which are similar to those used in local grocery stores or delicatessens, are described as Bizerba Scale SCII 100 and have a combined value in excess of $7000.

It is possible that given the high end quality of these scales that they could be sold and used in a professional type countertop setting that requires product being weighed, labelled and combined with a cash register.

Anyone with information on this break, enter and theft is asked to contact Constable Thompson of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025, ext. 2707 or by email at [email protected]. You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or leave an anonymous tip online.
