Stolen vehicle recovered, calls for service

The following is a news release from the South Simcoe Police Service:

On Sunday Nov. 12, 2017 at 3:45 p.m., a traffic officer on patrol did a computer check on a licence plate on a vehicle on Innisfil Beach Road. The vehicle was reported stolen to Barrie Police just over a week before. The officer followed the vehicle into a gas station and arrested the driver, a 36-year-old man from Barrie. Another computer check showed that the man was also wanted by Barrie Police on an outstanding warrant for fail to comply with probation conditions.

The man was turned over to Barrie Police on the outstanding warrant and can now add charges of possession of property obtained by crime - auto, and driving under suspension to his court dates.

Over this past weekend, South Simcoe Police responded to 193 calls for service, pro-active stops and community events.
