The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is leading an investigation into a fatal plane crash that occurred Monday afternoon in Ramara Township.
The small plane crashed into Lake Simcoe, about two kilometres west of Lagoon City, just before 4 p.m.
Orillia OPP Const. Ted Dongelmans said the incident was called in by more than one person.
“A resident from the area saw the plane go down, but there were also numerous people ice fishing in the area who noticed it,” he said, adding police interviewed as many people as possible.
Orillia OPP is aiding the TSB probe, he said.
