An unco-operative man was arrested after trespassing at an apartment building near downtown Barrie this morning.

At 7:13 a.m. on April 10, city police say they were notified about an unknown man who was found sleeping in the stairwell of a Wellington Street apartment building, according to a news release.

Police say the man, who does not live there, entered the building as an actual tenant left and then made his way to the third-floor stairwell where he was found by officers.

The investigating officer asked the man to leave several times and he refused, according to police.

The 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested under the Trespass to Property Act and removed from the property without incident, police say.

He was later released from custody after being charged with failing to leave when directed, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act.
