A routine traffic stop near Barrie’s downtown yielded drugs, a weapon, and charges for the vehicle’s driver Sunday night.
At 8:51 p.m. on Sunday, March 31 police pulled over a car during a traffic stop on North Street near the corner of Owen Street and Grove Street East.
Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday the driver was found to be in possession of a white powdery substance police believed to be cocaine.
The man was charged with possession of cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
He was later released from custody with a future court date.
