Two Barrie men face drug charges following a traffic stop on Bayfield Street late Sunday night.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., April 23, Barrie police officers stopped a vehicle on Bayfield Street that was allegedly being driven by a "known suspended driver."
Once stopped, police say officers began to investigate the driver when an unseatbelted passenger was seen in the back-seat area.
Police say they determined the driver was wanted on two outstanding warrants for failure to attend court, while the passenger was also found to be breaching a release order from last summer.
Both men were arrested and, as a result of the ongoing investigation, police say officers located and seized a "large quantity" of suspected cocaine and Canadian currency.
The driver, a 39-year-old Barrie man, and the passenger, a 23-year-old Barrie man, are now facing drug-related charges that include possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine) and trafficking a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine).
Both men have been held in custody and are scheduled to appear today, by video, for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
