Traffic stop in Barrie leads to $12K in cocaine, fentanyl

Barrie police seized cocaine, fentanyl, cash and phones followig a traffic stop on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Highway 400 and Dunlop Street.

Drug charges are pending against a man from the Greater Toronto Area after a traffic stop in Barrie led to the seizure of more than $12,000 worth of cocaine and fentanyl. 

A Barrie police officer stopped the rented vehicle Friday afternoon as the driver entered the southbound lanes of Highway 400 from westbound on Dunlop Street. 

In addition to the drugs, police say they also confiscated two cellphones and a "large amount" of cash. 

Charges are pending against the 24-year-old suspect.
