South Simcoe Police Festive RIDE officers were out on Thursday evening, stopping a total of 625 cars at spot checks in various locations.

17 roadside screening device tests were conducted with only one driver registering a WARN. A 37-year-old Severn Township man had his driver's licence suspended for 3 days.

A 29-year-old man from Toronto was charged with drive disqualified.

Officers spotted him driving in Alcona around 2 a.m., and found that his licence had been suspended for a criminal conviction of impaired driving.

He was charged and his vehicle impounded for 45 days.

Two other drivers were issued with tickets for various offences and one driver was notified of a recent licence suspension.

South Simcoe Police remind you that there are always alternatives to drinking and driving. Take a cab, stay over or use a designated driver.
