Three-year-old still missing; police leaving 'no stone unturned' (update: found)

No ground search planned for missing three-year-old, says Barrie police official

Editor's note: Police announced Wednesday morning that Arabella Vienneau had been found safe in Toronto and was being reunited with family members in Barrie.

Three-year-old Arabella Vienneau is still missing and while police are concerned for her whereabouts, they do not believe a ground search is necessary at this time.

Vienneau was last seen by a family member at a Tunbridge Road home at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday.

Just after 12 a.m. Wednesday, an Amber Alert was issued.

Barrie Police communications co ordinator Peter Leon said Wednesday morning police do not believe Vienneau has been abducted but that she “may have been dropped off somewhere before a community-based organization attended to her home.”

Last night, Leon told BarrieToday that police were called to assist with “a community-based agency where two children were to be at a residence but only one was.”

Leon acknowledged the community is asking how they can help, but said there is no ground search right now as “we don’t know where she is, we don’t have a pinpoint location.”

“We have obviously been working around the clock to determine her whereabouts and truly leaving no stone unturned,” said Leon. “It is a complex and very challenging overnight period for our investigators to get the information we require to determine her whereabouts.”

When asked if there was a parent or family member who was not being cooperative in the investigation, Leon reiterated “it has been a very challenging overnight period for our investigators, but our focus has been on locating Arabella and safely bringing her home.”

Vienneau is described as three feet tall, between 30 and 40 pounds, with green eyes and blonde hair. She was possibly wearing red pants, a grey T-shirt, and typically wears a navy blue bomber-style jacket.

Anyone with information or who knows the child's whereabouts is asked to call 705-725-7025, ext. 2129, or 911.
