Three drivers face stunt driving charges, all stopped by same officer

All three drivers were stopped withing a 24-hour period

A uniform officer on patrol conducting speed enforcement on Knox Road in the Town of Wasaga Beach at 6:37 p.m. Sept. 24, 2021 stopped and charged a 20-year-old Barrie male for the speeding offence of 96 km/h in a posted 50 km/hr zone.

On Sept. 24, 2021 at 2:42 a.m. on Highway 26 at George Johnston Road Springwater Township an OPP officer stopped and charged a 34-year-old Barrie male for the speeding offence of 159 km/hr in a 80 km/hr zone.

At 6:49 p.m. Sept. 23, 2021 an OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 26 in Springwater Township for the speeding offence of 135 km/hr in a 80 km/hr zone.

All three drivers will appear before the Barrie Provincial Offences Court on Dec. 7, 2021 for - race a motor vehicle - excessive speed and speeding and 50+ Km/h over posted limit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

In addition, their vehicles were towed and impounded for 14 days along with receiving a 30 day drivers licence suspension on the spot as per the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) conditions which have been recently elevated by the Moving Ontarians More Safely (MOMS) Act.

Of note

All three drivers were charged by the same OPP officer conducting traffic enforcement in the interest of road safety during his tour of duty.
