Thornhill man charged with driving 66 km/h over speed limit

A 49-year-old Thornhill man was charged with speeding and stunt driving following a traffic stop in Innisfil.

On Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020 at approximately 8 p.m., an officer conducting traffic enforcement observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed both while attempting to pass vehicles on County Road 4 near the 2nd Line and once the pass was completed.

A speed measurement of 146 km/h in an 80 km/h zone was obtained.

Forty-nine-year-old Afshin Baghaei of Thornhill was charged with speeding and stunt driving. His licence was automatically suspended for seven days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Speeding and aggressive driving are among the leading causes of collisions; 27 per cent of fatalities and 19 per cent of serious injuries involve speeding. Slow down and do your part for road safety.
