Third person sought in drive-through break-in at Vaughan Mills

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have arrested and charged two men and obtained a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of a third suspect in connection with a break and enter where suspects drove a vehicle through a mall in the City of Vaughan.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers responded to a mall on Bass Pro Mills Drive after a vehicle was driven through the glass doors at one of the entrances. The vehicle was driven through the mall to an electronics store where the suspects broke in and stole a quantity of items. The suspects then drove the vehicle out of the mall and broke through a second entrance. The damage to property was significant. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Thanks to a tip from the public, the vehicle the suspects used was later recovered.

Through investigation, the suspects were identified. Two of them, Israel Muamba and O’Brian Grant, were arrested in Montreal and Ottawa respectively. Both have since been returned to York Region and held in custody for a bail hearing.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a third suspect, Lesane Pillay. He is believed to be in the Montreal area and investigators are urging him to consult with a lawyer and turn himself in to local police.

Anyone who sees Pillay or knows his whereabouts is urged to contact their local police. Investigators are also appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and have not yet spoken to police to come forward.
