Teens charged following Marsellus convenience store robberies

South-end store was robbed twice in February as culprits made off with vaping products

Detectives from the Barrie Police Service have made arrests in two outstanding robbery occurrences from last month after the Circle K located at 2 Marsellus Dr., in southwest Barrie was robbed.

The first robbery occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at 6:20 p.m. and the second robbery occurred on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, at 8:10 p.m.

In both cases, vaping products were obtained by the suspects, but aided by video surveillance, police immediately realized that the two incidents were carried out by two different persons.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with the Feb. 15 occurrence.

Last night, a 16-year-old male was arrested and charged with the Feb. 21, 2022 incident.

Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), neither of the accused youths can be identified.

Both accused males were released after being charged with Robbery (Section 343(a) Criminal Code of Canada) and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie in the coming weeks.
