Suspicious pedestrian removed from area highway

Midland man faces weapons charges after being seen walking on a live lane of Highway 12 at 12:30 on Feb. 12

MIDLAND, ON - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a suspicious male walking in a live lane of Highway 12 at 12:30 a.m. February 12, 2018 in the Town of Midland. Attending officers located the male between King and William Streets and were able to remove the male from the live lane of traffic without incident.

Investigation at the scene resulted in the male being arrested and returned to Southern Georgian Bay Detachment for further investigation. As a result of the investigation Steven Charlebois, 30 years, of Midland has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose section 88
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon section 90
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon section 91 (2)

All charges contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released from police custody on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
