A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant in connection to a double homicide in Vaughan almost two years ago has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Connecticut.

Around 3:30 a.m. on July 23, 2022, York Regional Police responded to the ATL Lounge nightclub on Highway 7 West to find three people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two of the victims died from their injuries. They have been identified as 25-year-old Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe and 22-year-old Chibueze Momah. The third victim, a 20-year-old woman, survived the shooting.

Police have previously termed it a targeted incident.

On March 26, 2024, the suspect was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service in Hartford.

Kensworth Alton Francis, 29, of Mississauga, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Francis is considered innocent unless proven guilty.

York Regional Police say members of its homicide unit have been "actively working the investigation" and partnered with the BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Program, the RCMP INTERPOL Fugitive Apprehension Support Team and the U.S. Marshals to locate the suspect.

Police says investigators are also working with the Ministry of the Attorney General to extradite the suspect to York Region.

"York Regional Police is grateful for the efforts of our law enforcement partners in effecting this arrest," states a news release.

The BOLO Program uses social media, technology and "innovative engagement to encourage citizens to be on the lookout for Canada’s most wanted," according to police.
