A 21-year-old is facing arson charges for nine different fires in Meaford between 2021 and 2022.

A Grey-Bruce OPP spokesperson confirmed none of the nine fires that are part of the investigation were structure fires.

"They were a series of nine incidents where small fires were intentionally lit and controlled in a short period of time," stated Const. Nick Wilson in an email"There's no evidence to support there was a threat to public safety, but rather the fires were lit to damage property."

Detectives from the Grey-Bruce OPP major crimes unit have been investigating the series of fires that took place during 2021 and 2022 within the municipality of Meaford.

Grey-Bruce OPP confirmed they arrested the Meaford resident on Feb. 3.

The accused faces nine counts of arson - damage to property.

The charges have not been proven in court and the accused is awaiting a bail hearing in Owen Sound.
