A Springwater Township teen was killed in a snowmobile accident in northern Ontario on Sunday.

Police have identified the victim as 14-year-old Mark Ramolla.

At approximately 2:56 p.m., on Feb. 16, Almaguin Highlands OPP officers, with the assistance of the Kearney Fire Department and Parry Sound Ambulance Service, responded to a single snowmobile accident near Rain Lake Road on the OFSC Top D trail in Kearney, east of Burk's Falls.

The OPP investigation determined that Ramolla had left the trail and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to the Barrie Minor Hockey Association (BMHA), Ramolla was just over a week shy of his 15th birthday on Feb. 24.

"It is with deepest sadness that we share this," the BMHA wrote in a tweet Monday afternoon. "Marky shared a love of hockey with his team from Jr. Colts to M. Bantam. ⁣Sending deepest condolences to Lisa (mom), Mark (dad) & Emily (sister)."
