Springwater resident charged after vehicle plunges into Lake Simcoe

A Springwater Township man was charged with dangerous and impaired driving after a vehicle drove into Lake Simcoe in Innisfil.

On Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021 at approximately 2:30 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to the end of Shore Acres Drive for a vehicle into the lake.

The driver, who was uninjured, was arrested for impaired driving.  

As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Amrik Bhamra of Springwater was charged with Dangerous Operation, Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. He was released with a future court date.
